The Ministry of National Defense has given early sponsorship approval to DX Korea 2026, an exhibition centered on advanced defense and military technologies. This decision allows the organizers to start preparations earlier for the event, which is scheduled to open in September 2026. The request was submitted in September, marking a significant step forward for the exhibition.
DX Korea 2026 will be held at the Korea International Exhibition Center in Goyang, Gyeonggi, from September 16 to 19, 2026. Park Han-ki, co-chair of the organizing committee and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, emphasized that the ministry’s sponsorship enables the team to focus solely on preparing the exhibition. In 2024, the organizers received sponsorships shortly before the event, which created uncertainty about their participation until the last minute.
“We will prepare thoroughly so the event can contribute to Korea's national interest and defense exports,” Park said. This commitment highlights the importance of the event not only as a platform for showcasing technology but also as a strategic initiative for the country’s defense sector.
The committee has plans to expand the event’s scope to include systems for air, sea, space, and cyber operations. Special themed halls will be dedicated to civil-military technology, reserve forces, maintenance, repair and overhaul, drones, and digital training systems. These additions aim to provide a comprehensive view of modern defense capabilities and foster innovation in various sectors.
In addition to expanding the exhibition’s content, the organizers plan to invite overseas defense officials, industry representatives, and qualified buyers. They also intend to arrange export finance consultations and matchmaking programs to increase business opportunities for participants. These initiatives are designed to enhance international collaboration and support the growth of Korean defense industries.
Organizers are currently in discussions with Clarion Events, a global event organizer, to further expand DX Korea's international presence. This partnership could bring new opportunities and exposure for the event, positioning it as a key player in the global defense technology landscape.
The success of DX Korea 2026 depends on thorough planning and strong partnerships. With the early sponsorship approval and the commitment of the organizing committee, the event is well-positioned to make a meaningful impact on the defense and technology sectors. As preparations begin, the focus remains on creating a platform that supports national interests, fosters innovation, and strengthens international cooperation.
